Restoring Public Integrity <<
Kamala Harris takes seriously the duty of all elected officials to firmly support their oath of office. To ensure our leaders' commitment to this duty, Kamala has:
- Established the Public Integrity Unit in 2004 to prosecute those who abuse a position of public trust or influence.
- Prosecuted a wide spectrum of misconduct, including all forms of public corruption—ranging from bribery and theft of public funds to election fraud and illegal conflicts of interest.
- Examples of Cases Prosecuted by the Public Integrity Unit:
- Stealing state funds, unlawfully diverting state money to a political campaign by a non-profit, charitable corporation
- Perjury and elections violations by San Francisco Supervisor
- Conspiracy, misappropriation of public funds, concealing an account of public money, making a political contribution in the name of another and using college funds to support a political campaign by city college administrators.
